Fighting on Film Podcast: Making Documentaries – An interview with Emmy Nominee Paul Epstein
Paul Epstein recently spoke with Robbie McGuire and Matthew Moss on the Fighting on Film podcast.
He argues that history brings with it a virtually limitless amount of free IP; and there are countless numbers of historical characters, events, and stories that audiences would recognize. Historical subjects can be both cost-effective and hugely popular, both of which have been seen with the recent success of Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer.
But Paul also believes that we need to extract as many perspectives from history as possible. There are plenty of stories to tell – and many of them have been underrepresented. Films and shows on the women of the World Wars, for example, need making – and the industry should be prioritising these productions.
