In a new article for Realscreen, Paul Epstein has explained why FAST shows are set to become a major competitor for streaming services.

He cites FAST’s growing popularity in the UK as a positive move for the format, and emphasises the opportunities this will bring for the industry – namely for creatives who have been impacted by the squeeze on the ‘middle class’ of TV. They also provide a platform for factual dramas and Westerns which are gaining popularity in response to shows such as The Crown and Yellowstone. Epstein feels that traditional TV and streamers are missing a trick by not featuring them on their platforms, and that FAST would be the perfect fit for pioneering these shows.
