Paul Epstein recently wrote for The Messenger and argued that the introduction of an AI award category at prominent award shows like the Emmys is inevitable. 

He argued that, despite the apparent resolution of recent labor disputes, AI would persist as a foundational element within the industry, forcing award committees to acknowledge its creative applications.

He believes that technology is already being integrated into the entertainment sector, with AI emerging as its own genre. A dedicated award category will have to be established to recognize the highly creative use of AI in television and film. Paul believes that digitally created performers will coexist with established names in TV and film in the foreseeable future.
